    Hello-
I'm having a real hard time reconciling some corrupt windows services.

'Brief' explanation: Contracted a virus, seemed to successfully remove it with malwarebytes and otc. Original issue had something to do with FXSAPIDebugFile.txt. Left me with a lot of rundll32 errors when I entered windows. Tried running ccleaner, sfc, chkdsk, didn't find anything. Even tried replacing individual dll files in the system recovery console that I extracted from my Win7 disk. Honestly can't remember everything I tried but I got to a point where when I would reach the welcome screen and log in, it would pause (seemingly stuck) for 45ish seconds. Then it shifts to a black screen for about 45 seconds, and then my desktop finally pops up. Doesn't do this in safemode. Eventually started msconfig and going through services to find what was causing the hangup. Disabled all windows services, hangup didn't happen. Systematically went through all several dozen processes to find which one was causing it (restarting each time). Seems like it's Shell Hardware Detection. With just that disabled on startup, logs in just like it's supposed to, but-- with several errors in the device manager.
So I'm stuck. I can't figure out how to repair/replace shell hardware detection, or if that service is merely a symptom of something else, etc. Any guidance or input would be greatly appreciated. Apologies for the sloppy paragraph.

Tl;dr - Believe I'm having trouble with Shell Hardware Detection, don't know how to confirm/deny this, or how to repair it.

    Hi, thanks for the response.
I actually have been to that site already in trying to fix this problem and looked up those three services. They themselves are running and don't seem to be corrupted. I guess I'm not sure what to do with the information? RPC and DCOM can't (shouldn't) be turned off. Am I supposed to screw around with more dll files or is there some tool that I don't know about?

No tool that I'm aware of.
I simply go into Control Panel, click the Admin Tools and then select Services and go through that list. (This is XP; I haven't done anything to services in Win 7).

    Go here: http://batcmd.com/windows/7/services/shellhwdetection/
and scroll down to Automated Repair. Select your version of 7 and SP 0 or SP1. Download the bat file.
Note: Before you run it, scan it with your security programs to be sure it is clean.
