Corrupt XP SP1 OS

I have not been able to dl updates from Microsoft. I went back to where I had the OS installed and they tell me the *.asp and/or the Virtual Basic files are corrupt. They said it is easier to backup and wipe the disk.

Anyone have a better idea?

Part of the corruption was that I could not download anything from MS. I will ask my friend to dl it and let you know.

I had this error 0x80070424, but googled it and found a fix with a bat file.

Updates are in process. Thank you again Kodo.

 

Kodo's file helped with part of it, and I received a PM wanting to know what I did.

I created a bat file for the desktop and run the shortcut when I get the balloon that XP2 will not allow updates.

I reboot and run the bat before opening anyother folders.

You will need to say yes after each file registers.

Some day I will nuke the box and start over. Until then, this is a work around!
