I have an agere winmodem, and I am having trouble installing a non corrupted driver. I have downloaded the driver from the manufacturer's website, from driverguide.com, and a couple other websites. After I install the driver, and try to run the modem, it says that it failed to connect to the remote computer, and then it tells me that the modem is not installed. I pull up the control panel, and go to the modem icon, and check out the properties, and it says that the driver is corrupt, please remove, and re-install it. I have tried that several times with different drivers, older ones, and newer ones, but nothing seems to work. I am running windows 98se.

Go into your device managment and then install just the driver from the modem IN device managment. Remember now your audio drivers have to work WITH the modem or you will have no functioning modem.

If all fails, then go into the device managment and remove the audio drivers and then remove you modem driver and restart, let windows find and install them on the restart.
