I went out of state for a couple weeks, ( my dad had open heart surgery) anyway, I came back to my house sitter helping herself to my puter and I have this problem now. Everytime I shut down my puter, a message comes up saying " corupted. exe. Application error. referenced memory could not be written. ox7c8o979d and oxoo42c224. Any clue whats going on? everytime I try to down load updates, it gets almost done and wont finish. a message comes up saying down load couldnt finish. corupted files.. any help would be greatly appreciated :) thanks :) I have no clue where to begin.

Is using a restore point (to before the house sitter attacked your computer) an option?

    ladeeda,

Next time you get the error make sure and look for something maybe you did not include in your thread. Look for the name of a program or application, something like that.

AOL runs on top of IE. Try minimising AOL, boot up IE and try for updates. I get similar crashes if I try to update using AOL. They work if I log on via AOL then boot up IE and go through that. Same thing happens if I try Internet banking. Bazza
