I was thinking of trying CouchPotato 3.0.1 video downloader. It's rated a 5 but with only 2-votes.

Does anyone here use this program and, if so, what are your thoughts?

I'm looking for simplicity and no junk/malware files to be dumped into my computer.

Oh and FYI: I rum W8.1

    Hi Ken

No I've not tried this app for movies, I guess its more a personal thing and I dont go near anything torrent wise, for me its the security aspect of torrents, too many ifs! Now saying that I have heard nothing bad about the app itself and the setup has been on a few large sites on how to setup, but the main aspect is trust of a torrent. Hope someone who has used it pops along to give you 1st hand experience of this app.

Like DavidGP I have not used this software. And never will because it searches torrents. How do you know what will actually download?
If you would consider an alternative, let us know.

Thanks fellas...this is why I ask. I was not aware of the risks.

Yes, I'd consider an alternative. All I'm looking for is a simple, easy to use, tool to keep videos I want to save such as documentaries and instructional videos. I wouldn't mind an audio/video enhancement feature, as some of the old videos are in bad shape, but, not being real techno-savvy, it would have to be simple and easy to use as well. Heck, I'm uncertain as to which video format is best...

I hear tell Freemake Video Downloader is loaded with Malware so I didn't get that.

Thank you very much. I an going to read more on their site and, most likely, try it out.

Now I simply have to figure out which format is best...all the problems we didn't have 30-years ago aye?

More important than the video format is choosing the right player. Then you'll never have a problem playing less popular formats.
The said, stay with the popular formats like MP4, WMV & FLV in case you want to convert the videos for burning to a DVD-Video.

I use Media Player Classic Black Edition for video playback.

Have a look at the many formats supported by MPCBE.
