My daughter's computer generally starts with the BIOS offering her a choice of one of two hard drives, which she picks and presses enter to start the OS. Now the screen just goes black and nothing happens when she does that. That's all the info I have right now, as she told me this by phone.

Any ideas? Not much to go on I know. I told her to take it into the shop tomorrow.

Operating system on both drives? Recent issue? Both drives set to master?

    I don't know...

She's in the UK and I'm in the frozen wastes of Alberta. Every now and then she phones me with a problem and if I can't help I put it on here. Usually gets sorted out. I think this might be a tough one though.

I think it's a recent problem, and that there is an OS on both hard drives. I didn't set it up, but It's been okay long enough for me to think there are no master/slave issues. I'll see if I can get some more info this weekend when I call her.

And if she picks the other os?

On a side note, if both drivers were set to master, on the same controller, neither would boot, as in, no option to choose from. ;)
