Just got a new computer for Christmas. Windows XP Home
I am downloading anti virus. I have adaware, spybot S & D, Spyware Blaster, CCleaner, Avast so far. What other programs are critical to have? What program to I need to remove cookies from my computer when I logoff? I know I had it before, but it is not on here now, unless I don't have my settings correct.

How do I know if I have the right Java program for playing games, etc?
I ran Spybot and already have Avenue A Inc, Double Click, DSO Exploit, and Fast Click. I fix them, but when I run Spybot again, they are there again. Please help.

Also, I used to have weatherbug on old computer. I like knowing the temp. when I connect to my internet. I read on here it is a bad thing to have. Is there any other programs which do the same thing, but are not bad?

Thanks in advance for all the answers.

Just a couple of more things. I am still updating Windows. I am on dial up only connecting at 28.8 Yes, please feel sorry for me......Ha ha

I am at 83% with updates, but is taking me a few days to get them all, with the other downloading I am doing.
I also plan on using Firefox as soon as these updates are done, and critical anti virus put on here.
I am heading to work soon, but will check replies as soon as I get home.

Thanks for the advice big. I have read that and am trying to get all the programs I need. I guess the main reason I had asked, was because my computer is so slow, I wanted to get the most important ones first, as it will take me days to get all I need.

I finally have windows updates done, but am still trying to get the rest.

Still waiting for an answer on weatherbug. Is there any programs out there that aren't "bad" that will give me my temp. on the desktop? I remember reading about this in the forums, but did a search and can't find it.

And don't use WeatherBug unless you buy it. I would say take a look at the below program and see if you like it. I have never tried it myself. Let me know what you think of it:
    Weather Watcher 5.6 Beta Update

Thanks chaslang. I have it downloaded now, and it seems to be a very good program. Have some more to look at in it, and set some settings, but looks good. Hovering over temp. in the tray, tells me conditions and temp.

    Thanks again

You're welcome. Thanks for the report. Come back in a few days and give me a little report on how you like it. Either in this thread or you can PM me. I just want to know what you think of it and is it a good replacement for WeatherBug. We always have people remove WeatherBug due to the crap that comes along withit. So I want to see if this is a good alternative to suggest as a replacement.
