couple questions

hey i have a averatec 3200 laptop.

I want to reformat this but I don't have any of the cd's it came with but I do have the windows cd key. Do I need the orignal cd to reinstal windows or can I use any windows xp cd?

Also the dvd drive will play movies but I cant install any games, Ive tried older games like diablo and fallout but it doesnt even read them. would this be a hardware problem or software?

I am also trying to find out how to get better wireless connections on it so i can hop on my lappy at work but the signal isnt that strong. is there anything i can buy to up the signal strength?

I need the help dumbed down for me please.
