In the UK we are being given either the Pfizer or the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
It appears that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is prone to side effects e.g sore throat/ slight cold. aches and fatigue.

Has anybody had side effects from these two vaccines.

In some individuals, vaccines will cause illness like symptoms. Standard immune reaction for some.

Had Pfizer one the other week in work and apart from sore ass arm for a few days, ok. Parent has OX/AZ one and had headache for a day then ok. Though guess these mRMA vaccines will affect folks differntly as do all vaccines with some side effects.

One thing me and a collegue have been reading as me and her think that the antibodies if you've had covid may in a test be low and ignored are not to be so, as 1st vax can trigger an attack responce from your immune system as in below great article and I have the medical paper from the team they mention.

This is my biggest fear. I have an autoimmune disorder, and when my system gets triggered, it starts attacking the wrong things. Namely my internal organs. From what I've read (which admittedly isn't much) immuno-compromised patients weren't included in the studies, so there's no real data about how the vaccine effects (or doesn't) those people.

Darned if I do, darned if I don't.

If you don't want to get the Covid vaccine, that is your personal choice, which you are welcome to. Stop posting the same thing over and over (I'm sure there's entire forums or Reddit communities devoted to that exact thing). Any more posts similar will be deleted.

    To remind everyone:
    And back on topic:

My friend, who is a pharmacist and is administering it to nursing home patients, got her 2nd Pfizer shot a week ago...she felt a bit like she had the flu for about half a day.
My husband who works with Doctors, got his 2nd Moderna shot this past Friday. He didn't have any side effects at all.

I don't think the AstraZeneca one has been approved in the US yet.

Got my 2nd Pfizer shot a week ago. No problem at all. I agree-----it is a personal decision for each to make. But, I would hate to see large numbers of folks ill or dying simply from unfounded fear of a vaccine that could prevent this problem.

I have had both Pfizer jabs and my wife has had her first Astra Zeneca. Many UK friends and acquaintances in similar situation. None of them has had any side effects that lasted more than half a day. For most ppl side effects seem to be a non issue, but there are always exceptions of course.

I have gotten my second Moderna jab several days ago.
    Side effects?
Not much. A sore arm, a small fever, and that's about it.

The one REAL effect is that my risk of getting (and transmitting!) Covid is a lot less than yours is if you aren't immunized.
It's like the vaccine is some magic trick that "alakazam" keeps you from getting sick.
    WHO KNEW?

By the way, if you are in any way concerned about the vaccine I suggest you talk to your doctor.

The purpose of the jabs is to prevent you from becoming seriously ill rather than give complete protection.

Several possibilities here. She COULD have been exposed before or between her injection dates. She could have been exposed AFTER the 2nd shot prior to effectiveness, or she could have been in the unlucky 4-5% chance of the shot not giving total protection. In any case, she is at higher risk if she lives in a care facility, simply due to the exposure risk there. I would be willing to bet that her case is not as severe as it would have been without the vaccine. Just my opinion.

I've heard several in my area have gotten it anyway. Yes, many possibilities. I just believe it is up to each person to decide if they want the vaccine, or not. I've never thought it was any safer getting it than not, but that is just my opinion based on the quick production of the thing.

I hadn't ever heard this, but I don't have cable, and I don't watch the news but rarely on youtube. If it works for people, that's great. I just never know anymore where to find the truth about much of anything. I'm just hoping and praying we aren't eating any Soylent Green yet.

All four of us (me, my husband, and my two daughters) have gotten both vaccines now. 3 got Moderna and my one daughter got Pfizer. I was the only one who got a little sick from the second one. I got chills and a headache that night in bed. The next morning I woke up with a slight headache still. I was totally fine by mid day.

I'm going to be getting on an airplane to travel for the first time in a year. I'm so excited to be going to see my family.

My wife had Moderna and she was out of commission for three days each time. It's definitely worse than a standard immune reaction for her. Luckily though, she's vaccinated now. Hopefully India doesn't screw us all over with their insane mutations.

Women have been taking birth control pills for decades and the risk of having a blood clot from those is Significantly higher. I mean really significantly higher. Your odds of dying of Covid are also ridiculously higher. All medication has risks. Every single one. You can't pick and choose...or you can...but only for yourself. I would take a 1 in a million risk of blood clot so that I can have some semblance of a normal life again without the fear of being one of the people who gets a serious case of Covid.

And we are talking about ONE vaccine. This is from Johnson and Johnson, which has been halted. No effects with others. People posting a ONE bad experience are just trying to create mass hysteria.

Well i have not been infected by covid. There for i should not need or get the Vaccine.I am not trying to scare people into not getting it but i am saying they need to research into what vaccine to get.Yes it has been recalled by the CDC for that reason. But what about the other symptoms you get from Covid Vaccine.

It's like the flu shot really.Ever since i have stopped getting the flu shot i have not gotten the flu.I just don't trust it.I should not be forced if i don't have to be.And like i said i was never sick once during the whole ordeal.Mainly due to wearing a mask if i went out shopping.

I avoid most people any way.

  50. fleppen

Only in the USA. We're using it in Europe as the benefits far outweigh the risks. It's also not the only vaccine with risk of blood clots under specific, very rare, circumstances. AstraZeneca also has this risk. Does not prevent me from getting it.

That's not what vaccines are for. They're made to create herd immunity by severely weakening, or in the case of mRNA-vaccines, deconstructing the virus and only inserting the building blocks so that your body's immune system knows how to combat it. Obviously herd immunity only works if enough people get the vaccination. As for the symptoms of the vaccine versus the virus, it's very clearly in favour of the vaccine. The virus kills at quite the rate really and has severe and long lasting effects even months, perhaps years, after you've cleared the virus (if you're lucky enough to be able to clear it).

Just to put it in perspective for you: if you take a pain killer like aspirine or ibuprofen you also run a risk of blood clots forming. But it's such a rare thing that nobody thinks twice about pain killers when they need them. The only reason you're even hearing about the extremely rare side-effects in covid19 vaccines is because literally the entire world is running vaccination programmes and as such you're going to hear about the extremely rare side-effects as they will occur due to the insane numbers at play.
