My last Power Supply was 65C now i bought a new one a couple of months ago and it was running fine at 53C but now its like 61C and Programs like Mozilla Firefox will apsolutely not launch because of this and my pc is officially useless. Ive got a program called Everest it tells me that my CPU is 61C and when Windows Loads it takes about 5 minutes. I really dont know whats wrong my Power Supply is 350W btw.

Not sure what you mean by your power supply running at 65C . . . do you think it is overheating? Have you checked to see if the exhaust fan or fans on the supply are working?

From what I remember about the Athlon XP's, I believe the maximum temp. on the die is around 85 - 90C for the 2100+ below, so you are still below the max at 61C - though I feel that is far too high for a system in an idle state. Have you checked to make sure the CPU heatsink and fan are clear of dust? You would be surprised at how a little dust on the heatsink can cause your CPU heat to skyrocket. Do you have a case fan or fans, and are they operating? Good case venting is very important.

As for Windows taking forever to boot - Have you checked lately to see what programs are starting up when you boot your PC? Some programs when installed insert themselves in your startup routine wether you want them to or not. The more stuff in your start-up, the longer it will take windows to load. I once checked a friends PC, and she had over 40 things that would start up when Windows booted!! Some of it was crap-ware, but others were programs that she used every now and then, but didn't need running all the time. On my PC's, the only things that start with windows are the anti-virus, fire-wall, and UPS software.

You could also have some net-nasties on your PC. Have you checked for mal-ware and viral infections? Do you run an anti-virus application like Avast or AVG, and mal-ware checkers like Ad-Aware and Spybot? Check here . . . :

. . . and pick out some programs to search your system for mal-ware, etc. (assuming you don't already use them). If you find you have a mal-ware infestation that you can't get rid of, check out this thread and follow the instructions:

Hope some of this helps. If I've missed the mark, pehaps you could give a more detailed description of the problem?
