CPU 64 BIT capable?

    how do you find out if your computer or CPU is 64 bit capable?

    Most computers built in the past 4-5 years are 64bit capable. You can use a 3rd party program like CPUZ (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/CPU-Z_d425.html ) or any other system info tool like PCwizard (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/PC_Wizard_d3846.html ) or Everest (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/EVEREST_Free_Edition_d4181.html ) to get this info. You're looking for something that says "IA-64" or "x86-64" is supported. I have highlighted it in the screen shots below.... IA-64 primarily applies to Intel CPUs IIRC, since I have an AMD chip, you'll notice that IA-64 is not part of my specs....

    BTW- the 3 programs I linked to are 100% free ;)
