CPU broken soder point

Well I bough a 2.4 p4 from nevermindQ from this forum but he packed it wrong...I opend an envelop package and the first thing I knew it was going to happend was that some of the pointed soter points were going to be bent..So they were and one of them was broken...Now it is running right now but when i changed the cpu speed from bios to a 2.4 it starts up fine but then after 5 minutes it restarts again. Now is this because of what happend and if so should i get my money back....But this only happends when I what to power it up to it's fullish which would be 2.4, it is running fine right now at 1.8ghz...

Yeah it works...but up to 1.8ghz only when I try to clock it to the speed that it should clock which is 2.4ghz it starts fine but then restarts itself 5 minutes later but it works...I am just thinking its my motherboard....

 

could it be a heat issue?

 

nah..i don't thinks is that..I mean i just installed the thing.....it cannot get hot in like 2 seconds.....lol....

 

from a cold boot my CPU gets to 40c if i leave it off all night then turn it on in the morning then go right into the BIOS ... then stays put at that temp, unless im gaming of course

is the rated speed 2.4? or 1.8?

 

I offered to pay for shipping it back to me, and once I recieve it I said will refund your money ThisChick.

 

nah....I am keeping it..I searched around and some people told me it might even be my mainboard...so I'll get a new mainboard that supports it better and if i do have difficulties still, I shall tell you...but so far I rather have it on then having that stupid celeron in.....
