now i want to buy a cooler for a 2.8ghz pentium 4 processor... and i found one and when i looked it up in the company website i saw this line:
Lifetime : 50,000 hours... does that simply mean it's gonna "die" after approximately that long or does it need a rest ever 50k hours?
    THANKS , PEACE :)

It means the fan is rated to run for 50k hours, then it may fail. I would not worry too much if my math is right: (50,000/24= 2083 days 2083/365= 5.7 years). I hope I am not using the same computer in 5 years! :D

...and that's over 5 years of the fan spinning CONSTANTLY! I don't know about you guys, but I turn off the PC occasionally ;)

Right...so if on average you leave your PC on for 8 hours instead of 24 that means you'd anticipate your cooler's estimated life would be longer than 17 years!

My computers are only shut down for upgrades and cleaning! :D
