I have an AMD so I am not up to speed (not in mhz! ;) ) with the Intel chips - however - what heatsink do you have?

Its probably best to get a new heatsink. I am from the good old United Kingdom so Im not sure about prices e.t.c but thermalite make exceptional heatsinks, mainly for Intel CPU's.

Go to a good review site and have a look around, (places like http://www.overclockers.com/topiclist/index15.asp). You can pick up a decent heatsink (especially with your stateside prices) for the dollars you have to spend.

Once you have a few more nickles or dimes or whatever you guys use ;) then get a nice fan to sit a top your new cooling monster!!

Also, make sure you get a decent thermal compound (Arctic are the name everyone loves but there a plenty of decent products out there) that can really makea difference.

So, my advice (which is only my humble opinion) is to:

    Get a new heatsink
Get some decent thermal compound with it
Save up to put a decent fan on the heatsink.

Here's what I run on my P4 3.0E ( The Best Bang for ya Buck! )
A Thermalright XP-90 HS $28 with a 92mm Panaflo H1B fan $8, (this combo is Quieter than the stock HSF on any P4 & Way Cooler)
Idel temp around 30c, max temp never seen over 45c.
    Here's where I bought it:

The only other's I'd consider besides Water is Thermalright XP-90c or XP-120
All the reviews Ive seen state about 2c temp differance between XP-90 & XP-120. (Ya pay almost twice the price for 2c)

Thermalright Makes some Kick-Ass heatsinks at reasonable prices, Thumbs Up!

for mine this ( Thermalright XP-90C P4/K8 All Copper Heatsink) was the best I found it cept it cooler several others, but for my needs (im kind of picky/obsesive) water was the way I went. But when I cooled with air it got to 38c idle 50c heavy load average was 42-45c
