CPU fan slowdown?

Recently my computer has been giving me a warning on startup that my CPU Fan is running slow. I'm using the Asus Probe utility to check fan speeds and temps. It reports that my CPU temp is at 95F and my Motherboard is at 105F. The fan speed is almost always in a range of 1500-1700. I know that my temps are not exactly high enough to cause damage, but if someone can tell me how to get my fan running a bit faster I'd appreciate it.

I'm using WinXP on a DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+and an Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard.

I apologize for the vagueness of my post. Thanks guys.

You can control it your self with speed fan, but if it is a 4 pin connector your m-board should control it, according to heat. Could it possibly be wore out? You usually dont see a m-board hotter than the cpu.

How are those temps in general? They're a little hotter than they should be, but should I panicing? The CPU is less than 6 months old so I would be surprised if it's worn out. I checked inside the case and it looks fairly clean so I don't think the issue is dust either. Speedfan doesn't seem to be changing anything on it's own, if there are settings that I'm missing I don't know what they are.

Also, I have a larger fan connected to the front of my case, but apparently I didn't hook up the sensor correctly cuz it doesn't register in PC-Probe or fanspeed. It's spinning nicely and Speedfan shows my HD temp at 55C.

Are you running Cool n' Quiet on your Asus motherboard (or is FanSpeed the same type of prog)?

If your temps are OK then there is not necessarily anything wrong with a fan running at a speed that gives a warning (I use ultra quiet 12cm fans for everything and they never break 800 rpm, as a result I have a CPU temp of 35 C and ASUS Probe still having a fit).

If you are using a non-stock CPU cooler, especially a 'quiet' one, and especially if you are running Cool n' Quiet then low fan speeds can probably be ignored.

I would suggest turning off Cool n' Quiet for a while and seeing if the fan runs faster and at a steady speed without making odd noises just to be sure that it's OK.

Looking at your temps in general -

Mobo - 105 F - Fairly hot but not dangerous
    CPU - 95 F - Nice and cool
    HD - 55 C - That's pretty hot.

In general I would see if you can improve the airflow through the case. You have a big inlet fan (check the direction), what exhaust fan(s) do you have?

Most fans are held on with four small screws. Remove these and carefully lift off the fan - it will remain connected with th wiring but you should be able to get to the cooling fins of the CPU and clean those out and give the fan a brush out (I use a very small paint brush). That should help bring your temps down a degree or two.
