    Hi,

Windows 8, 64 bit. I have a problem with my pc, I can't stream the National tv without the fan running like crazy and the streaming stopping shortly every 10 seconds or running in slow motion. CPU is high almost all the time, also when I have 6 o7 sites open at the same time. Right now, when writing this message, CPU is lower, but still the fan is running loudly.

I know the problem is not connected to a bad internet connection, our other computers have no problems like this.

I tried to solve the problems by resetting to factory settings, but that didn't go well, but luckily I got some help restoring my pc with a Macrium Reflect image, for which I am very grateful:

    How much RAM?
    What video card or chip?

All I'm finding for that Aldi model are pages in German and a Nordic dialect. (Danish, Swedish or Norwegian).

(translating the entire webpage google didn't change it into English)
So I have to do a few sentences.

    found it
    There are several problems:
    1. The laptop is from 2012 so it is probably dusty inside. The fans speeds up to try and cool it down.
    2. The graphics chip isn't great so things will be jerky.
    3. The amount of RAM is inadequate.

I suggest you use your other computers to do video intensive tasks. Save this laptop for the easy chores: reading and writing emails, working on documents.
It isn't worth buying more RAM for a 9 year old laptop. Save the funds and eventually get a newer, more robust laptop.

    Plodr,

    Thanks for your reply:)

    I see your point:) But:

    1. The pc is not dusty inside. It has been cleaned thoroughly, also the fan. Besides MX-4 Thermal compound has been applied "between CPU / GPU and designated coolers to transfer the dissipated heat from the components to the heat sink."
    2. Regarding the graphics chip: I know it's old, and of course it can have been damaged and has seen better days.
    3. RAM has been added, it has 16 GB.

The strange part is that until lately we had another pc identical to this one, and it didn't have any problems with streaming, so this is also why I am trying to find a possible solution.

Eventually I will buy a new pc, I just don't have the money for it right now

Not damaged graphics chip just too old to be capable of today's graphics demands. Remember this is 11 year old technology.

I am looking at spec for your PC. I see it has an old Pentium 4 dual core running at 2.2GHz? Not enough horse power. A lot of laptops don't have very good graphics, and your is lacking, (2nd gen intel HD). When you don't have much graphic power the PC will start falling back to the CPU. That is your problem. It is too slow. A couple of things you can try. Look in the bios, and see if you can dedicate some of that 16GB's of ram you have to your GPU. That will slow it from using virtual memory on your hard drive. It probably already is using some ram, make sure it is maxed out. Next, the videos you are watching, if they have a quality setting, set it down to the old TV setting of 480. It will be fine on the smaller screen of a laptop. If you have no bios setting to dedicate ram to your GPU, you can install a SSD. At least if it going to use virtual memory it can read and write faster. OH, one more thing. Make sure no programs are running in the background, they use up valuable ram and CPU cycles. Best of luck.
