    Is there an easy way to prevent the "svchost" on xp pro from tying up 100 percent of the cpu every time you use the computer to call up or use the internet?

    The first thing you want to do is run a virus scan.
    100% CPU usage by svchost may indicate a W32.Blaster infection.
