I just got a new 1.1ghz celron to replace my old 600, popped it in and got a black screen. The celeron 600 ran at 66fsb but my motherboard should be able to run at 100fsb.
Tried to update the bios but e-machines website had nothing, eventually found one at HP's website as it's the same mobo, now my machine flashes up an hp screen on start up. For some reason it game all my peripherals the same IRQ number, tv card, gpu, sound card and my pc seems to be runnig a little slower, anyway still got a black screen with the new cpu. Any suggestions?

    mobo: trigem cognac
    os: windows ME
    memory: 256mb
    hd: 15 gb

First thing I'd do is reflash your bios with the correct one.

It seems that your board does not support the cpu you are trying to install.

    Take a look here.

I thinks the problem is that it's a tualatin, which maybe the mobo doesn't support, so i got an adapter from e-bay, fingers crossed that'll work.
According to intel's website both these cpu's are PPGA yet they look completely different, how that? If it turns out this mobo can only accept 66fsb cpu's then i'll chuck it out the window as far as it'll go. Don't really mind the HP splash, don't have to hang my head in shame now every time i saw the e-machine logo.
