    Hi,

    Sony Viao VPCEB2C5E
    Intel core i5 CPU
    4 G RAM
    Windows 10

I was wondering why my laptop had started to struggle/freeze and I've discovered that my CPU is constantly running at 2.6GHz when its max speed is 2.4GHz.
On checking task manager there were no obvious culprits.
My normal browser is firefox, latest edition. I am concerned about the adobe flash player that constantly crashes and does seem to be using 20%+ of the CPU. The other large users are firefox and avast.
Any help greatly appreciated, the heat coming from the fan etc could bake cakes.

    Dave

Task Manager will show which processes are using the most CPU power.

    Thanks for the quick reply,
On task manager there doesn't appear to be any large users apart from Firefox, adobe avast & flash. I don't know how much of the CPU they should be using.

Is Avast updated to the latest version? (17.2.2288 Build 17.2.3419)

Ensure the 'Show processes from all users' is checked, and then click the CPU tab.

Avast is at the latest version and all the info I've provided is from task manager CPU tab

Flash is 50-70% & using 80% of memory. Is this normal

That's what I thought. I'm currently in-installing all flash before reinstalling
    Fingers crossed

Looking further at the problem it appears the system interrupts are 30% and above. Looking for solutions to this problem now.
