Hi Guys...I have a 2yr old Dell D610 laptop, in the last week the fan comes on full blast about 10mins after starting the machine and the CPU seems to be running @ 100% most of the time - I have no other progs or apps running at all...anyone any ideas what is happening??...It has been a trouble fr*e machine until now, maybe the CPU is dying?? if it continues to do this the fan will surely wear out pretty soon...although I live in Ozz it is not a hot time of the year and I have not installed any new s/ware or h/ware for months??...any help much appreciated...kind regards dizzy...

It might be dusty. The older my notebook gets, the more noise it makes as the fans come on to cool it off.

Open up device manger too and see if something is using a lot of your CPU % when you hear the noise. Post the app(s) that seem to be using all the processing power.
Something could be downloading an update or scanning in the background.
