    Hi,
I'm new here and this is my 1st post.

    I use Win XP SP2.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad R60 laptop with the following processor:
    Genuine Intel CPU T2400 @ 1.83 Ghz.
    (Centrino mobile technology; Core Duo)

Out of curiosity, I got this Intel CPU identifier utility software and ran it, and it displays the current CPU speed detected as 0.99 Ghz on both cores (expected is 1.83 Ghz). another similar software CPU-Z(?) displays the same...

However, when I look in BIOS, it displays the speed as 1.83 Ghz (but is that the ACTUAL speed, or is that just displaying 1.83 Ghz because that's what it's supposed to be?)

why are the 2 software displaying less speed than it's supposed to be?

is this normal or is something wrong?
The laptop runs fine. and has 1.5GB RAM

I would be thankful for any help.

i didnt know this could happen but maybe its reading it as half speed because its a dual core? just an idea...

BTW, it doesnt matter what programs say, BIOS determines what speeds things run at. programs can always be wrong. Are you noticing any speed problems? or does it just bother u that it SAYS its slower?

Welcome to the site :major: :cool

actually, I don't think i have any speed problems, and I also thought BIOS should know, but it bothers me that 2 programs say that it's running at slower speed.
I thought about the core duo thing , too, but:
if that was the case: 0.99 x 2 = 1.98 Ghz, that BIGGER
than the listed 1.83 Ghz...can that happen?

    here is some more info:

system BUS is shown as 665 Mhz (667 expected)
    FSB 166 Mhz.
    Multiplier: x 6.0
what's another good software to check all this info?

    Thanks for the welcome.

is there anything like adjusting the FSB up in BIOS that would remedy this?
I'm very new to this stuff, so pls be patient with my amateurish "?"s.. :)

    THANKS, man!!
I got Everest and look what IT said:

    CPU Speed:
CPU Clock 1828.59 MHz (original: 1833 MHz)

    CPU Multiplier 6.0x
    CPU FSB 304.76 MHz
    Memory Bus 731.44 MHz

    IT IS RUNNING @ 1.83 Ghz !! :D :D

it was the stupid software I used which didn't function...wondre why they couldn't show the correct numbers???
so can i be happy now???

Because its designed to ramp down when the speed isnt needed.

You'd have to turn off the power management features to get it to run at full, all the time, which is not desirable for a laptop.

Yep, tech support forums are for tech support. Your second post was much improved.
