CPU Temp - Part 2

I posted a few days ago about my CPU temp (Duron 1.8ghz) running a bit high: in high 40's to lower 50's- averaged about 52C. Well, for those who give a sh**, I did change the heat sink/fan to a ThermalTake Volcano 7 100% copper that weighs about 87 pounds Just kidding! It is a heavy one tho.... Anyway, with some new thermal snot applied and a fan spinning at just under 6500rpm, my CPU temps have dropped almost 20 degrees!!! I'm now running at a steady 33-34C... much better! Just thought I'd post in case anybody cares or whatever...

Thats a significant drop in temps was the old HS choked with dust?

 

No, no dust, just a lame HS. It had a copper base, with aluminum fins (really thin fins) fused to the base with a smaller 60mm fan. One of the 'thick' fans; about 3/4" thick. It was basically a brand new HS/Fan, but it didn't do the job. The new one is similar but all copper, 80mm fan spinning almost twice as fast. Unfortunately, no OC'ing possible 'cuz my MB has no FSB or multiplier options in the BIOS. It's on older ECS I picked up for $2 at a church rummage sale. The guy selling it said it was dead. Amazing what a new CMOS battery can do for 'dead' mobo, eh? LOL.... Model K7VMM rev 1.2......
