this is kind of this topic and kind of cooling so ill put in in both...well here goes
i have a cooler master hyper 48 and it says the rpm is like 1480 thats bad isnt it? that could be why my system temp was kinda high...but i reapplied thermal grease like id id the one drop in middle and i like got the little wire things that u like close and seal bread w/ and packing clear tape and got to work straightening my wires...and boy did it make a dif! i went from almost overheating from like 70C to 30C :) well can any1 telll me what my fan should be going at and how to make it go that fast if its supposed to go faster?

Try buying anothe fan like a volcano, depending on your CPU

2c difference to what you normally get is nothing to worry about, many factors can contribute to a difference in temps eg.

When you reaplied the TIM the CPU and HS were not 100% clean from previous TIM or your greasy finger touched one or both.

Re-installing the HSF onto the CPU may not be uniformly even.

and the most common factor for varience in temps... ambient room temp! different times of the year have affects on temps... say its winter and you have heating on temps do rise abit inside case or its summer and you have all windows open with fresh breeze to cool yourself down also has thr bonus of providing cooler fresh air to case.

a +/- 2c diff I wouldnt worry about, I have heating on because its freezing in house so CPU is at 42c and that is well within normal running speeds.

edit: just noticed in another of your threads that you are OCing and the core speed is slightly up... then that will be were your extra 2c is from.... OCing = extra heat.

no no no im sorry...i was running at like the 70s and soetimes 80s which is burning up...and i am now that i straightened all the cords and taped to side of case where nothing at and reapplying the hsf...which instead of spreading paste around i let it do its thing i put drop in middle...but like...should the cpu hsf be spinning faster?

Taken from the link Pyrate supplied
    1400rpm is its speed.

70 and 80 °F is not that hot in CPU terms my CPU is at 108°F and my HD is at 75°F at present with an ambient room temp of 65°F

and if your temps as quoted
are those at default or O/Ced then compair them to these http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.cfm?page=3&articleid=613&cid=1

and I think you have nothing to worry about.

70c is to hot, list your specs, if Amd socket A make sure you have the hs on correct and not back words.

Post back with your specs for more help
