    Hi all,
How do I monitor the temp of my cpu and gfx card?

What kind of graphics card and motherboard do you have? Why, do I ask? Some of the "newer" models have software that comes with them that monitor all of this.

Its for my laptop, it always seem to be running very hot.
    I have a p4 3ghz cpu.

The graphics card temp was for my desktop which is a 6800gt on a asus P4P800 mobo.

Latest version of EVEREST will help.

Check out this thread and download EVEREST from the link provided.

Run it. Click on Computer---> Sensor. This will give temperature/s. Bazza

For my own curiousity, what make and model of laptop with a P4 cpu. Lucky devil. :D ;) Baz

What is the CPU Temperature and if it is around 50C then its normal
usually intel recommends 40C a normal temperature for ur processor
but if it has a lot of work load and HT enabled then the temperature must be
    at least 50 or +

I was told a couple of months ago, by a computer shop owner friend of mine, that laptop manufacturers have gone back from using P4's in laptops as they run too hot. You may be stuck with what you have got.

Try one of these 2, whichever is best. They may help. Try them both, separately of course.

    Rain 2.0 zip (121mb) http://www.benchtest.com/downloads/rain20.zip
    Waterfall http://www.benchtest.com/downloads/wfp299.zip (1.21mb)

They reduce the number of CPU cycles (I think, if I remember right). Puts less load on the CPU and less heat generated. Bazza

I downloaded Everst and clicked on sensor as reccomended, but I don't think that either of those temperatures are the temps of my cpu?! Not sure though

I agree with you kirk. Thinking it over, I think the latest version of EVEREST no longer reports CPU temp. Damn. Sorry.

3 more programs to reduce your PC power usage.

First 2 are free, last is shareware.

    KCPU Cooler www.kt2k.com

    Eat 'n' Cool www.kiki-koko.com/cpueatncool/

    CPUIdle Extreme www.cpuidle.de

Just found these 3 in a magazine I bought yesterday so have not tried any of them.

    Any progress, kirk?

Maybe do a google search for an earlier version of EVEREST to try.

I have 2 earlier versions in my downloads folder if you can't find one on google.

Did you try any of the 5 programs I listed earlier? Bazza

Dunno about laptop support but latest Everest still displays CPU, MOBO, HD temps or try an earlier incarnation of Everest in the form of Aida32 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=183

I would be tempted to enter your Bios and see if it has Temp readings?

    Just ran EVEREST again.
The other day it listed the temps of both my hard drives, in my laptop.
Just now, it only listed one temp. Strange?
Probably doesn't list CPU temp for my old laptop, but I thought it did in previous versions.
My memory may be going. :p Gotta keep taking the tablets. :D Bazza
