    So I got a deal on a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T to replace a Athlon X2 64.
The mobo is a Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P. I flashed the BIOS to F10C.
Everything is normal to this point.
I then installed the new CPU & fan. It boots > splash screen > verifying data pool > Error Loading OS

    I running Win 7 pro x64

I tried "Loading optimized defaults" in BIOS, No change

Before I mess something up or loose data, I thought I'd ask here first.
    What should I do next?
Should I just boot from the Win 7 cd?

    Thanks in advance!

I can't imagine the CPU having any effect on the OS loading. can you do a recovery ?

Yes, try booting from the DVD and do a repair. Once completed and the OS boots normally, go to Start -> search and type in recdisc.exe and launch it from the results pane. Have a blank CD ready along with the Win 7 DVD (recdisc will ask for it) and create a rescue CD for your system. Modern computers have a recovery partition on them but hard drives will fail so, it's better to have the rescue CD.

OK! Booting with the DVD worked! Thanks!

I powered on, loaded the Org. disk, then it automatically took over from there!
It loaded some driver software then rebooted.

And I did make a recovery disk.

    Perfect now.

    Thanks Again :clap
