CPU Usage 75%-100%

    Whenever i start a program my CPU usage goes to 100%, while moving my mouse it goes to 75% my computer is constantly laggy/glitchy not freezing or graphic glitching just very slow i have ran Windows XP fine before on this computer but i reformated due to problems on the old installation of XP but after format my computer runs like this my specs are,

    I've tried alot of things to fix this.. nothing works i've even taken my whole computer apart and put it back together again .. and still nothing no luck at all.. i've installed norton and scanned.. found nothing.. i've done everything i can think of.. now i come to whoever can help me fix this... thanks

    Cpu usage at 100% while opening a program is good because it means the cpu is being utilised for the task.It is normal.If you think there is a slow down you might like to disable some startup programs and services that run in the background.What are the programs you run in the tray?Also what anti-virus and spyware programs are you running?You celeron is a bit outdated too.

    Well it does slow down.. and it's even when i move the mouse it just lagg's .. uhmm.. like i said i just reformated.. it's all new i got nothing running in the background.. even when i did it still did it... i've reformated almost 20 times in the past 2 weeks.. and i just instaled ServicePack2 and things are still the same.. i got like 2 programs running in the background that are from startup.. soo...i don't know.. and how would i go by upgrading my celeron thingy..

    I'm not to sure what to look for in this thing... i'm sure everything is normal.. it just glitches up my music also when i run a program ... and even when i move my mouse fast it does it.. i'm not to sure what i'm looking for in this problem.

    Have you installed process Explorer? If not, I suggest you do it. What are the top 2-3 CPU users? Bazza

    Maybe you can disable microsoft antispyware real time.Just do a scan ever two days.

    Your cpu time is being used for the rights process,so there is no way we can improve on that,look at your memory.Does your system recognise 256mb?Also check for memory leaks.Take control panel>admin tools>performence.Add a counter for memory>available bytes.See how much the graph shows.Also get the latest drivers for your hardware.

    Damn.. i thought i knew alot about computers.. but when it gets to certain things i can't do anything about it.. but all should be good i'm installing Windows XP with a new CD maybe this works...
