CPU Usage

Why is my CPU usage always 100 percent. I have 1.5 Gig of RAM, but it seems to take forever for everything to load. Any ideas?

 

What are you using to gauge it?

Have you checked the processes tab in task manager (assuming XP/Vista) to see which are taking up the most CPU time?

System specs? OS?

It is a Dell Inspiron 2400 that I upgraded the RAM on to 1.5 Gig. I am using Windows XP. I have like 60 processes running and on my laptop there are only like 10. Could that be the issue? How do I see which ones are eating up the mem?

 

Open task manager. Under processes, there is a CPU column. It lists the usage of the processes.

Note, your laptop isnt running on 10 proccesses

Your right on the laptop it is showing 50. So how do I fix the issue once I see which ones are zapping my memory? Also on my virtual memory - what should my setting be?

 

The first step is to find the ones pegging your CPU to 100%.

Let us know once you have found out. We need the name of the process(es).

One step at a time friend. Virtual memory is perfectly fine, system managed.

Looks like a part of Cyberlink Power Director.

Consider an upgrade, or reinstall? If that doesnt work, maybe even uninstall it to test.
