cpu usage

my cpu is running at 30% on average all of the time. i have ran Adaware Away, Adware, Spybot & hijack this. see attached hijack this report. the only processes running are system idle, taskmgr.exe, iexplorer.exe and explorer.exe. none of the numbers seem out of he ordinary. I'm running xp pro on a hp notebook. when i pull out my wireless card it will drop down to a normal usage. this has been nothing but crap since i bought it. is there a way to fix this w/out buying a new card. any suggestions would be great. thanks.

 

Try this:-
Process Explorer. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4566

It provides a great listing of all processes that are running on your PC, in real time.
You can sort columns to Name, CPU use ascending, CPU use descending, etc.
It will soon highlight exactly what is hogging your PC CPU cycles.

I minimise it, shrink the window down to the top 5-6 users, in descending CPU usage, and keep it in my system tray so I can access it at any time. Hope this helps. Bazza

Is norton speed disk set to run at all times? I know some defragment programs have a setting to defrag in the background.

 

I don't believe so fool. I'm running 2003 Norton system works. I tried to check all of my options and settings for the speed disk. to my knowledge all that runs upon startup is the antivirus. but again, i'm not sure i didn't see a setting enabled for it.

i did notice that my total physical memory is only 191 mb. would that cause this prob. ? like i said in my earlier post that when i pull my wireless card out of the cpu the usage goes back to normal.

i downloaded the process explorer and have no clue how to work it or what it all means. it looks like i'm getting hardware interrupts and DPC's.
