OK now based on my other thread and the replies I got I've decided that I need either a CPU or a Graphics Card update next.

Which would you say is the most important for gaming & that will provide the biggest difference so that I can look around for a decent CPU or GFX Card?

At present here are my CPU & GFX Card details:

    CPU - Intel Celeron 2.6Ghz
GFX Card - 256mb ATI Sapphire Radeon 9200 Atlantis

EDIT: I only have an AGP slot for my GFX Card so any PCI Express cards are out of the question.

depents on what you want from your system.
both are not that recent but if your not aiming for the latests games i would go for the cpu, intel has the dualcore out so the price of a nice 3 ghz pentium should be coming down

    Hi HasSanK,

You wouldn't notice much of a difference by upgrading the CPU as far as gaming performance is concerned.

I would definitely start with a new GPU - I would suggest something like a 9800 Pro or X800 GTO - or if you like nvidia cards as I do, then a 6600 GT or 7600 GS AGP card would also do nicely.

You may experience a little bottle neck with your CPU but it should still game fine. :)

Definately go with upgrading the CPU. :D

The Celeron chips were basically designed as a low end build for computers that didn't require using a lot of graphic applications. College students and companies with workstations that didn't game or use heavy graphic programs like AutoCAD.

You'll get by fine with the graphic card you're using. You can pretty much play any game you want, although you may need to turn down the in-game settings a bit. The CPU however, you'd notice a big differance with an upgrade. The Pentium D 805 2.66GHz (socket 775)) is a really nice CPU that can be overclocked (nicely), and is cheap too! If you don't have a socket 775 motherboard, it's worth the few extra dollars getting one to go along with the Pentium D. With cpu and MB, you're still probably under what you'd have paid for a decent graphic card, and you'll notice a larger jump in performance imho.

If money wasn't an option, it'd be a no brainer to go with a new Core2 cpu, but you wouldn't be asking which to get first if money wasn't even slightly a concern.

Sir? Step AWAY from the Celeron!

Eh, contradicting resonses. Gotta love the debate!
