hi, question about CPUcool. can i adjust my laptop's fan settings using this utility? i have a new gateway mx6959 and it runs a little hotter than i would like (55-62 celsius according to everest). yes, i know that's not terrible, but i want to make better use of the fan by increasing its rpms or preferrably lowering the temp where it turns itself on (now around 62, then it turns off once it reaches about 50, but then it quickly climbs back up). does CPUcool let me do this or should i try something else?

for that matter, what else can i try? speedfan failed to recognize anything and spit out a lot of error messages, and i hesitate to try notebook hardware control, i9kfangui, or any of the others i've come across till i know they work (or in the case of i9kfangui, when a more current final release is... er, released).

    help me major geeks!

Nah, CPUCool is an UNDERCLOCKING program. It's making your CPU run slower, and as a result, it doesn't get as hot. I thought the program was crap, myself.

See this thread for more opinions.

thank you much, Mada_Milty (and thanks for your lightning response!); i'll steer clear of cpucool then.

anyone know any other options? any other programs that DO do what i want them to do?
