    Can anyone help?
I've recently done a clean install of windows XP pro. Now, When I play my mp3's/CD's etc, I get a crackle whenever I open, close or do anything with any other windows.
My previous OS was 98SE. That was fine. The sound device is an onboard one which used to accept SB128 drivers. Now, when I try to load these drivers, I get a message that says no Sound Blaster can be found.

If you can help, please keep it simple as I'm not much of a techie.

    Ta.

Maybe use your Control Panel to access Sounds and Audio Devices and lower the Hardware Acceleration for your sound-device.

Else find out what motherboard you have and look at the motherboard-manufacture's website for XP drivers that match your motherboard.

Else check your system for hardware conflicts, they can sometimes appear with a reinstall of an operating system

Else disable your onboard sound-card and use a few bucks to buy a new soundcard and.

If the above doesn't make any sense to you, then just ignore it, or return the computer to the shop and let them fix it :)
