Crackly Sound

Hey guys,

I have recently re-installed XP and noticed only after I installed Oblivion that some sounds/music from my pc are very crackly sounding. This seems to only happen with oblivion's menu music and with cd music played in WMP11. If i play the same audio cd music in foobar it's fine.

I have tried re-installing directx, audio drivers (newest), removing oblivion, un-installing/re-installing WMP11 and I also removed all codec packs from pc, none of these yeilded any results. I also don't have this problem in Vista.

One thing to note is that when installing oblivion, it often freezes (or appears to) at the end of installation (when it is installing DX) and I then use task manager to end it. Don't remember this happening when I installed it in Vista.
