My computer just died!! It told me battery low and shut off. Did that last night as well, but powered back up and charged the battery. Ordered a new power cord. Hope that works. In the meantime, using the wife's!

Hey Tim, the power adapter is probably the cheaper guess although it is probably the battery or part of it. Modern batteries have temperature sensors which prevent charging if the battery is too hot (to stop them exploding). If the sensor (usually a cheap type 'K' thermocouple or a thermistor) is faulty and tells the charging circuit to stop charging then you will have a flat battery.
If you take the battery out does it still run on your current power adapter (with no battery)? If it does then the power adapter is probably OK and the next guess would be the battery. If you had a similar good battery to swap then this would either rule out the charging circuit or the battery.
    Good luck :)

There is no battery access. It must be internal.

It is internal! Got directions on how to replace it. Can't find my multi-tester to test the adapter.

Bummer you probably need the same set of tools to open it that you need for an ipad/iphone. You can get them on ebay pretty cheap ;)

Jeez that's pretty patient to wait and test your power adapter.....I was stressing the other week when my internet went down for day so to compensate I used my mobile phone as a hotspot........sad thing is my cable internet is only 30Mb/s down and 2Mb/s up and my 4G phone data is 50Mb/s down and 35Mb/s up. Pity phone data is so expensive

I have a StraightTalk account for $45 a month with unlimited talk, text and data.

Jeez I have a AU$55/month account with unlimited calls (within Australia) and SMS and only 2Gb of data. Extra data is AU$10/Gb which is better than last year when it was AU$0.25/Mb if you went over your quota.......Telstra had to change their pricing when Vodaphone started discounting data and increasing quotas.
Just recently the managing director of the company I work for went 820Mb over his allowance while he was in London and Telstra charged our company AU$6,800 and that was after they reduced it from AU$14,600 after we threatened legal action due to them putting the wrong data package on his International Roaming plan even though we paid for the bigger package :eek::eek::eek:

When I last looked, to get a mobile plan with Telstra having 6Gb of data the cost was AU$125/month. We use Telstra because they have the best mobile coverage and the most cell towers but you pay through the nose for this privilege

Yep......we really get ripped off over here :( also not only do we pay too much but we also get next to zero service with the tech support call centres in either India or the Philipines.... whichever it doesn't matter as you still can't understand them

I know hundreds of people between work, family and friends who use StraightTalk. Works almost everywhere! I see it reduces speed from 4g to 2g after 8 or 10 gb, which only a few I know reach that point. If it's not available outside the US then they need to expand. People I know from outside the states buy a $55 plan for unlimited to Mexico and Canada locations to keep in touch with people back home.

In Australia most of the infrastructure is owned by Telstra and they set the wholesale price to all the other carriers. Before it was privatised Telstra was government owned and run but now they are a publicly listed company and now are the main cause of our high prices because now they operate to make a profit for their shareholders rather than to just cover costs and because they own most of the assets they hold everyone to ransom. Of course there is also the problem that most of the population lives in about 20% of the land area so the network is really spread out in rural areas so expensive to maintain.
We have Vodaphone here but they are only the number 4 network and they don't have enough mobile coverage. For mobile we only really have two choices Telstra which has the best coverage and the least dead areas and drop outs or Optus which has almost as good coverage but more dropouts although they have been really improving in the last 12 months.
All the other carriers only have fair service in big cities and if you go out of town there a lots of dead spots.

It would be wonderful to get something like Straight Talk in Australia but I suppose if they setup here then they too, like the others, would have to kow tow to the juggernaut that is Telstra

To cover our bases I have a Telstra mobile account (work phone) and my home landline and internet is Optus and my wife's mobile is with Optus and this seems to work OK. When Telstra is having problems or down then we still have Optus and vice versa although in the past 12 months Optus has been much more reliable ;)
