Ok, well I just wanna say thanks for any future help coming this way---

Anyways, Ive got a problem (You're Saying "No shit" hahaha)

Basically my computer freezes, and I'm forced to give it the 7 second power salute.

I'm pretty sure its not random, and it DEFINATELY isn't overheating...
It tends to freeze only when Starcraft ends a game and enters the Battle.Net Menu.

My Computer Definately meets all system specs... And I'm Running no other programs.
    -------------------------------
From What I've seen, I beleive that Internet Explorer is causing the crash, but I'm not running it...

I've tried in the past to run both at the same time, only to freeze the computer and end in feelings of frustration.
But, I beleive that Internet Explorer or some related program is used to put a banner up near the top of the Battle.Net screen.

What I think will end the problem is to either:
    1) Somehow allow Starcraft to run with Internet Explorer
    2) Somehow stop the banner from appearing at the top of the B.Net menu.

I've Tried countless Uninstalls, Reinstalls, and what-not.

    Help?

Whoa, there. Have you verified that you don't have any unwanted software nasties on your computer? I'd suggest that you start there. Follow the directions in this excellent guide, up to and including posting all your logs, regardless of whether you think the computer is clean or not. If you still have problems after any possible malware has been removed, come back here and we'll get to work on terrorizing the galaxy with zerglin rushes again. :major

Oh, Dont worry, I have absolutely No nasty things on my computer.
I the only things that i have installed on here are:
    StarCraft (BroodWar)
Ares (But i exit it almost immediately)
AIM (I turn it off because i want to play SC
Spore (No, I'm not running 2 games at once, hahahaha)

Thats the complete list, other than the stuff that comes with the computer.

Its Impossible for me to have any Nasty things on here- I Just Cleaned out my computer...

Besides, Its not Me that has the banner up at the top of the B.Net menu, its starcraft.

Either way, something is wrong with your Internet Explorer, if IE is what places the banner up there (assuming it is supposed to do that, anyway). Start digging there.

You said you've done countless uninstalls and reinstalls.. of what, exactly? What protection software do you have running, that might be interfering with IE/Battlenet? Are you in Vista or XP, using Internet Explorer 6 or 7?

In Windows XP, if you go to the Control Panel, to Add/Remove Programs, there is a section for Windows components. Select Internet Explorer and then click on Next, and go through the wizard, and see if that fixes anything. And of course make sure you have Windows fully updated.

Uninstalls of any of the programs i put on the computer. I've been running IE 6, and its XP.
Norton Anti-Virus, And Windows Firewall, the standard stuff. I have changed the settings around tons of times... Turning the firewall off sometimes, but i just have it as a simple Exception rule for Starcraft.

Im sorry, i think I used the incorrect term, its not crashing, its freezing... Maybe that helps?

    uhh... help please?

Oh, btw, its happening more often now. Its starting to do it In-game, and its impossible for me to get a full game in. People are getting angry at me for dropping in the middle of a game because my comp is crashing.

Given the fact that it's getting worse and worse... I would suggest you go through that guide I linked to earlier. If nothing else, it will rule things out.

Hm, yeah, so... I have no idea what that means. You might want to take that to the malware forum.

Its not a maleware. Ive seen this Bluescreen before. Its when 2 Pieces of Software IN XP are running at the same time. They some how cant run at simutaneously. One can run, the other can run, but both at the same time is just kaput. This is the error, when i go to "Event Viewer" ---> System

The Acpi 2.0 _PCT object returned an invalid value of 7.

Its a Device error, but i have no idea what.
People sometimes think that this is a Creative Labs Soundcard issue or something, but i dont have that. Its weird.

Look, all I know, is that my System is clean, you can bet on that. I just used the Alienware Ghost CD a couple of days ago, and Have barely used Internet Explorer, and ONLY went to sites that ive been visiting for years, ones that i know are good.

I know its not spyware/Malware/Adware/Wario Ware/ or any other type of ware you can think of.
All i know is that In order for my cash to roll in, I NEED this game working. I cant even get a full game in.

My system isnt overheating, if it was, the computer would shut down, not freeze, right?
I go into the Event Viewer for when these BlueScreens happen, and Apparently this Error happens every 12-23 seconds.

So, i Guess, logically, what happens in a computer every 12-23 seconds?
Please, I know ive got a huge problem and its difficult to solve, but Imagine only playing half of a game, every time?

Now, imagine that this is your job, and you cant even get a full game in, thus impeding progress on very important projects....
Plus, its fun playing SC.... and i CANT!!! GRAWWHAWHHHWWHWHW *Runs around in circles screaming hysterically*

Not necessarily. When my own computer was over-heating, it just froze and stayed frozen. I had to unplug it to shut it down.

That said, it should not over-heat every 12-23 seconds.

To be perfectly honest with you, this is a bit beyond my field of knowledge. My best advice is to make a new thread in the Software forum, where the Windows experts can see it, and add a link to this thread so they can get to the information you've already posted.

Again, your problem is outside of my area of knowledge and I don't want to offer guesses and empty speculation when I know there are other forum members who are better equipped to help you. Especially if this is a problem that will impact your paycheck! :eek

try this : Start, Run, type in "msconfig" hit Enter.
A window will come up with tabs up top.
Click on the one that says "Startup"
Look at the list of programs that are starting up when you boot your system up.
you might have a program running in the background that can be disable.
also look in the "services" see what you have running there also.
post what you have running in the "startup"

also you might have a program or a game running auto updates.

btw when you install the game that you are playing did you have a choice of installing express or custom?
maybe you need to reinstall the game and see if that helps.
but for now lets see whats running.
