Considering the faulting driver cannot be read--- a lot.

What were you doing when it happened, when did it start, can you readily reproduce, have you recently updated your video drivers, or any other driver for that matter...

the computer was idle.......the restart woke me up.........i havent updated anything......TUN Miniport adapter days device cannot be started, but driver is up to date.....that seems to be my only hardware/driver problem.

Stop 0x50s are notriously difficult to deal with. If you check my debugging BSODs thread, there is a link to BlueScreenView. See if it gives any additional info. In the meantime, being that the report shows that ccc.exe was active at the time of the crash, lets try updating the video driver, or if already updated, try a different version.

Alright. So basically what you have is a network driver crash. We could assume this is a problem with the OS itself, but being that this is Windows 2008 (as a desktop OS, why?), the updates I found do not apply.

So..looking a little further we see that vsdatant.exe is also involved...which is part of zone alarm. A computer sitting idle doing nothing that crashes ime, has been network related, either driver, or something interfacing with the driver.

So maybe you should start by trying to remove Zone Alarm and run without it to test for a bit?

ok, will do. by the way, i have vista home premium x64......does that file say otherwise?

    Just debugger mumbo jumbo then.

ok, so i've uninstalled ZA, Nod32......installed comodo and avg.......see how things go......

ok.....for some reason, i cant copy my dump file to upload.....
Happened Dec 11 while playing SimCity4

    VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)
Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.

Unable to verify timestamp for atikmdag.sys
Module load complete but could not load symbols for atikmdag.sys
    Probably caused by atikmdag.sys (atikmdag+12dc0)

so, im assuming this is video hardware/software related. ive already done the video driver fix suggested......any other causes you can think of?

sorry for not being able to provide entire dump file.

    Hi

I would be tempted to run memory diagnostics as it seems your are having various files error, this one is good MemTest86+ and if you dont have a floppy drive then grap the ISO (linked to in the download page) and burn it to CD and to do that use ImgBurn and then set your PCs boot order to boot from CDROM in the bios and test.

*also best to test one memory stick at a time, but doing this you need to open up PC and remove memory so only do if confident at this*

also what are the temps of your PC, CPU, System and GFX Card?

hi there......my gfx card temp is 56 degrees C, so not out of the normal operating reange, i assume. cpu is also normal, as i dont have any strenuous apps running or any mods to my cpu to boost performance. my comp is clean of dust and debris. i will try the memory test as you suggested and post the report when complete.

With all of the stuff going on...yeah, there might be an underlying issue here.

How about power supply? Are your rails providing sufficient voltage, thats stable?

I'd wonder about the motherboard as well.

so, the memory test was error free. you mention power supply.......i think my PS (stock from dell) is 350W. i am running ati radeon 2400 pro, 22"lcd, soundblaster audigy, and of course all stock components. sould i try to uninstall ati drivers and unplug my video card? maybe my PS is to small? how do i diagnose any MB problems? i apologize for speaking hardware in software forums.....this is just where the rabbit hole has led us....:)

I am the wrong person to ask about testing motherboards. I do have a good track record of knowing something is wrong with them and relplacing them though ;)

Not so easy with a Dell.

Unplugging your video card seems like a bad idea ;)

    so, just happened again........ARgh!

cant copy the report again (dont know why)...

    ntkrnlmp.exe is the suspect.
system service exception: an exception happened while executing a system service routine

im stumped. should i format? im going to delete all files in appdata\local\temp......windows keeps pointing to 2 files that may "explain" the problem......malware? comodo, avg, nod32 and ZA never found/find anything. we'll see what happens after temp file is cleaned.......
