Ok first let me start of by saying I'm new to this site... I'm a long time member of Experts Exchange but feel I would like to give this site a try.

The computer which I'm confused as to is actual model # (bottom of the laptop says Model # is ZG5) however the closest thing on Acers website that matched anything on the bottom was on the tag of Manufacture Date AOA 150 which there site shows a Pink Mini Laptop... Mine is Blue and available at Wally World for 299.00...

    Heres the deal...

I got a virus or started having an audio issue where my laptop would lag and freeze when playing an MP3. I used Acers recover tool and reinstalled everything. This fixed the problem, however now when I'm in the field (I work in the field) playing an MP3 or the laptop is just sitting there it gets a STOP error code and reboots. The usual message says if you have inserted a device try unplugging it and reinstalling the software again. You know Microsoft's usual lame message. I looked on google and it seems there is a defect with the acer that people are saying the vibration is causing issues when playing music however mine is plugged into the stereo and not running from the laptop speakers. I have updated the wireless driver as of five mineuts ago because I noticed another issue not sure if it was related to this, but when the computer would try to go to sleep it would fail saying the Atheros AR5007eg was preventing this. Attached is the stop error code in the event viewer I'm all ears on suggestions or viewable links with similar issues.

Do you have problems with any other sounds? System sounds? Audio CDs or other sound file types (.flac, .ogg, .wma, etc)? Movie DVDs or movie files (avi, wmv, mpeg, flv)?
As to the problem with the the wifi preventing sleep or hibernation or standby: go to the Device Manager and browse to the device, right click it and select 'Properties', click the 'Power Management' tab and make sure the appropriate box is checked (see screen shot attached below).

Nope, not that I have seen, although I mainly only play MP3, it has never crashed while watching utube or hulu. I also used to use an alarm clock and I dont recall it ever crashing with that either. Are you thinking WINAMP is causing the problems?

On the Power options I didn't see it there. For the wireless there was only five tabs.. General, Advanced, Driver, Details, Resources. I checked eachone and there was nothing about power options. I do recall seeing this before, but dont recall if it was this machine or another one. The Ethernet Nic card has that tab and option, but not the wireless....
