Crashing PC - Not a Malware Problem

I have had problems with IE7 and other programs crashing lately. Typically, I get a message of the type: "XYZ has encountered a problem and must close". This seems to be mainly with the browsers, both Mozilla Firefox and IE7.

When I logged on to the PC tonight, I had the following windows up on the desktop. On top was : Windows Virtual Memory is too low". Under it was a window stating that LUCallbackProxy Module encountered a problem and needs to close. The technical description of the problem was located at: C:\Documen~1\Jerry\LOCALS~1\TEMP\WER84c1.dir00\LuCallbackProxy.exe.mdmp.
    also at C:\Documen~1\Jerry\LOCALS~1\TEMP\WER84c1.dir00\appcmpat.txt.

And lastly, there was a window up, that I assume came out of Norton which stated that a Startup Program was being added to the registry and needed approval. It listed the program as C:\windows\system32\tbctray.exe.

I have had a number of problems with Norton. I have had to reload the entire Internet Security programs several times. Once the subscription is over, it is gone (222 days to go and counting). I have also had errors with WIN32 having problems and needing to close,

Hopefully, this is enough to get you started down a path to determine where the problem is and get it resolved. Thanks for the help.

Run this first to rule it out:
Bitdefender agree to the license and then select Scan. DO NOT CHANGE THE OPTIONS TO SHOW ALL FILES SCANNED. That will make your logs huge and we don't need to see clean files. Once Bitdefender completes the scan:

Click-on the Detected Problems tab. Then select Click here to export the scan report

When the window comes up to save the report, change the Save as type: box to Text (Tab Delimited) (*.txt) and then in the File name box enter change to bdscan then click save. This will save a file named bdscan.txt in whatever folder you are currently in when you save the file (take notice of where you are at so you can find it later). This bdcan.txt file will actually contain HTML code that we can easily view later while reviewing your log. All we have to do is rename the file to bdscan.html.

I already ran BitDefender as part of the Malware check. It did not detect anything and so I do not have a log associated with it. As a point of information, it took a number of attempts to run Bitdefender to even get it to run at all without crashing part way through. Once I did get it to run fully, it detected nothing. I am repeating the scan at your request, but expect the same result.

    Try disabling or uninstalling norton.
LUCallbackProxy is the Symantec LiveUpdate Proxy Module, also a part of norton.
Because of the way anti-virus programs work they can interfere with everything on your computer. I wouldn't be surprised if norton is causing all this.

My advise is to get rid of it and get AVG free.

I would not be surprised if norton were not the problem, but before I bail on the money spent on the license, etc. I would like to be able to determine that is the case. Any suggestions on how I might be able to do so?

Ran memtest and got 330 errors before it finally made it to 100%. It would appear that there is a hardware problem, so I will move over to the hardware forum for help. Thanks.

If you have more than one stick of ram ..run the test on each seperately to find the bad stick and then replace.:)
