Crative Zen Freezes PC

I have a Pentium 4 PC, 512k RAM, 3.4 clock speed, 200gb hard disk.
I have Windows XP with SP2 loaded.
I bought a Creative 40gB Zen Touch to transfer the 16,000 odd music files I have on my PC to.
The Creative drivers and music manager all loaded OK and I commenced transfer of files. The files on my PC were in mainly MP3 @ 192kbs plus some WMA files at 128kbs. In the transfer I was changing format to just WMA @ a lower bit rate.
Everthing was fine for approx 10,400 tracks until a file (probably the only one I downloaded from the internet) caused the system to grind to a halt.
At this point my PC froze constantly with or without Windows Media Player or Real Player open. Also nothing except Windows Explorer could see any files on the Zen.
If I removed all traces of the Creative software my PC ran OK and WMP or Real would play my music on the hard disc.
Eventually I reformatted my Hard Disc and reloaded all programs and all was OK until Creative Media Source and Zen reloaded. Once again total freeze and CPU use showing at 95% plus.
Creative have said that the Zen has a problem with anything over 10,000 tracks despite the box it comes in states 16,000 can be loaded.
I am going mad with frustration. Is there any known mismatch issues with Creative and my system of XP/SP2 and or also WMP/Real.

 

Try using WMP10 or Real player to load the Zen, Creative's music manager leaves a lot to be desired.

 

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately cannot find where to get the driver via WMP (it asks me to insert the disc that came with the Zen) and once that loads everthing freezes again. Once the driver is loaded (supposedly) the CPU useage rockets to around 90 plus %.
