Crawler Toolbar?

Is this product save to use or is it adware or something even worse?:confused

It is on download.com, so I think it maybe save to use...

I think it's Adware, my browser was pointed at their site to read their privacy policy but OpenDNS wouldn't allow me to go there

 

can i just point out something - without causing a kefufle,

the link to the adware win32 crawler toolbar is ever so slightly out of date - by over 2 years

Halo, I have already have installed it....I should have researched before I placed it onto the computer..:cry Excellent point, BTW, on download.com....I see that this program was not available for d/ling, hear at Major Geek....:major

Your point is well taken, however, I did a subject search on Geek and found a thread where one of MG's malware expert advised against the use of this product, because it use to be adware and could again be so...

Besides, it search engine is a very poor performer....

The Crawler Toolbar is installed with Spyware Terminator, among other software, unless you uncheck the option to install it. According to the folks at Crawler LLC, they have cleaned up their act and as already stated are no longer detected as adware. But IMHO it is 100% adware.

Thank you, EvilF.....It appears that this program has been rehabilitated.....

Nevertheless, due to it's past and its unimpressive features, I am going to remove it....

 

The reason why I raised this "Crawler issue," was that I would always get a white box with a dialogue in it, like the ones you get when placing your crusers over the title of a thread....

This would follow me page after page....When going to another website, I would get another one, with a new dialogue...Let me tell you, it was a royal pain in the :***...

I removed the Crawler Toolbar and all crawler related items and yes, the problem went away....I also did a fresh reinstall of FF 3.5....

Now I tried IE....I did not get the white box with any dialogue, however, when I log into Major Geeks, I would get the thank you for logging in page and then the main page would appear, but I was log out....

I try this a second time and sure enough, the same thing happen...I am going to remove Crawler from IE, too...

I am now convinced, that the Crawler Toolbar and all related programs are a pieces of junk and should be avoided at all cost....:mad..:flip
