I`m posting this in hardware as it is firstly a hardware control problem, even though I`ll prol have to do the whole malware forum thing eventually, as I hope someone has the specific solution :p

The mouse pointer takes on a life of it's own and just flies around the screen out of my control !!?

I`ve had this on various system builds and with a variety of ps2 and usb optical mice and it seems to only occur when I have a stable system with no warnings or errors showing and I have gone online.

Neither avg or comodo(now replacing avg ;) has found any infections so I`m wondering about a broken registery entry or malware. I`ve run various cleaners recomended here and either they don't do it or it comes back :p

Having had and got rid of this a couple of times before and having found no specific solution from myriad googles with many other people having the same problem...

When I`ve got rid of it before it`s been with 3rd party cleaners/anti spy bots so I am left unaware of which specific action the programs took was the culprit and seeing as I did not want to "re-infect" myself with every removed trojan or broken reg key...

I have all the T-shirts for cleaning optical mice, replacing bats, usb wireless, etc, etc and as I have a standby ps2 plugged in jic my wireless usb battery fails mid game...as it invariable does rolleyes

Tried comodo geekbuddy out of curiosity on the 60 day free thang and he tol me my wireless KB/mouse was incompatible...errr nope as I still have crazy mouse after removing usb KB/mouse. cclean and rebooting, plus it's an intermitant problem so..roflmao

As it comes and goes I`m also wondering about a background process causing a memory/virtual driver conflict?
Anyone know what specifically can cause this ?
    Thanks in advance :major

Hi! I have similar problem. I just used my CD to reinstall my IntelliPoint 4.1 Microsoft mouse. It seems to be working OK. Will have to wait to see what happens.;):)

Task manager with the right columns (set in view for mem/virt mem/page faults/peak mem, etc) selected showed the culprit to be jqs.exe...a memory hog to the tune of over a meg of main and 2 megs of virtual memory!

Over 139,000 views of this idiotic prefetch program on 1 tech forum that is ofc java quick starter....how is that quick exactly sun microsystems ?! More like malware to me :wave

If you find you have the same problem cause you may need to show x86 iconc in control panel to show the java icon, then advanced tab and miscellaneous button to de-select jqs start up correctly:major
