I've imaged computers (currently 7 in my home) with both Ghost and True Image. I'd say True Image is better, more reliable and less prone to verifying errors.

I've also used my images on several computers to restore when I've run into minor and major problems.

I've never tried the free tools posted by Earthling so I can't comment on them.

    Hi

While I use Acronis True Image I did try out Macrium Reflect a while back and its options are not as extensive as Acronis but it does do a smilar job of imaging your full HDD, also alows you to create a bootable CD to launch the application (just like acronis) incase your HDD is non-bootable due to corruption, so that you can install the backed up image file.

If you dont mind paying then Acronis is my suggestion but if you want Free then Macrium is good.

I tried out Easeus Todo yesterday, and would say the same as Halo says about Macrium. Seems that both do a good basic job, but as ever each user needs to test whether the bootable CD you have to create actually works on their setup, i.e. can it see both the drive containing the backup and the drive to which it is to be restored.
