Welcome to MG"s. I have moved your thread to the game forum.

Start by giving us your system specifications, the name of the game, the game's system requirements, and the OS you're using.

Out of memory usually implies that your hardware is too weak to run the game, so we'll want to rule that out first. If you're below the game's system requirements there's nothing we can do until you upgrade.

Its an old game, Operation Flashpoint. I have 1gig ram, P4 cpu, and geforce 7600 graphics card, it worked well for years. We had to completely reinstall everything for our pc as we had some trouble and also got more hard drive, from 80 to 160. We updated all drivers for windows and the graphic card and sound card, I ran the mem test from here. Seems I can play 'smaller' battles, but on my big capture the island game, it just crashes now. I reinstalled the game again today, very pure, still same.

If you are talking about Dragon Rising you are actually below minimum requirements to run the game. (Thanks for the link, TimW :) )They list a dual-core CPU, you have a Pentium 4. To quote the sticky at the top of this forum, don't even bother. It's not going to work, the CPU is one of the few system requirements for gaming that you really can't compromise on. If you don't meet that, then the moment you ask the PC to start running demanding maps, it's going to implode on you.

If you're trying to play Dragon Rising, upgrade your CPU, if you can. If you can't, stop trying.

If you're talking about Cold War Crisis, we're in a whole different ball game. Now we are dealing with a game from 2001, that you can run easily on your hardware, but your OS might not like it. So if we're dealing with CWC, which OS are you in?

I fixed it! Yay! Yeah, it was cold war crisis, turned out I had some strange tmp (temp) file that instead of being called tmp1 or tmp2, was tmp 2307 or something. I was able to delete stuff from it with help from a program and it fixed everything. I also used that game boost and my pc flies now. Got all my old mods up and running again. Thanks for Everything, this is a great site with great resources!

As long as you got it working, that's what matters. Enjoy the game! :highfive

Just in case anyone else comes by who has the same problem, what's the name of the program you use to remove the file that messed things up?

The program was process explorer. It finds where a file is being used by another program. Unfortunately, after a couple days my game messed up again with same error. I reinstalled, removed all files from game, but didn't fix it. It may be my graphics card. I'll try it on a different computer when I can, if no bug, I may get a new card. I cleaned it, and pc works great, but game doesn't. (works on small missions, but not large) I just love a mystery :)

Hi again! Fixed it for good now. Had to up the virtual memory. Since I have a gig of ram, I tripled it, setting both initial and max size to 3072mb. That did the trick. Get to it by start/my computer/right click/properties/advanced/settings under performance/advanced/my processor scheduling and mem usage are set to programs, anyway, go to change virtual memory, and reset both to 3072mb. You have to hit set, not just ok.
