Can anyone recommend the best way to create a bootable CD for windows XP. My system is acting up and I want to beat it to a crash...

A search shows me many options, some for pay, some not (although somewhat complicated it seems to me) ...

    Thanks,
    Marc

Try BartPE http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/. One fantastic program. It will build you a bootable XP system that runs from a CD. It is a limited function XP system but it has certainly gotten me out of trouble fixing damaged XP installations.

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!

The first question I have, is: Are you attempting to reapir your computer, or are ye trying to backup the system?

What exactly is your computer having issues with?

Thanks for your response. My screen went blank 3 times this afternoon.... Rebooting the laptop took care of it so far. However, it has made me nervous and since i am on a business trip without my recovery cd's that came with the laptop - Iwant to create a boot cd so that I can access my files ...

Was the laptop plugged in? Was it running off a battery?

    What are your POWER settings?

What Service Pack level are ye at? SP2?

Once again, welcome to MG. We will attempt to help ye.

BTW (by the way), what were you doing during the blank screen time frame? Does this happen with all applications/programs?

    service level SP2.

This option has to be excersied before a major screw up right?

I can't run XP MC and thought this might fix my corrupted registry, but it seems not...

I hate to say this, but Star Gate is about to start in 7 minutes. I missed the earlier episode, due to friends coming by to play pool and darts at my house. :)

But, I will attempt to help between commercials. :|

Once again, the question I have is, was the blanking of the screen during time with the laptop. As in, you were working on a document, and the screen was flickering?

This MAY be related to heat. If this is true, you may want to BUY a can of air, and try to blow out any dust within the laptop. Especially, any ports, err, fans.ventallation ducts.
