A quick question as regards this product. It is supposedly a USB 2.0 webcam (ie not USB 1.1 but USB 2.0 compatible) with cmos sensor and I am using it with XP. The camera is operating in USB 2.0 mode as in Device Manager>'View Devices by Connection', I can see the webcam listed in the USB Root Hub under the 'Enhanced PCI to USB host controller'

Is anyone using this particular model. Reason I ask is because I get a lot of 'motion blurring' in the same way as I did with my USB 1.1 webcam. I get this 'motion blurring' just using the Creative on the host pc using the Wecam's utility to display video.

Is this normal are all these cmos based webcams the same regardless of whether they are USB 2.0 or 1.1

    Many thanks for your help

D3m3nt3d, the Webcam is without a doubt connected to a USB 2.0 port...

    Also as I said above.....

What is the fps rating on the camera?? The less frames per second can cause motion to have a bit of a blur!!

The webcam's software is reporting generally about 16-23fps. Though it can fall to about 10-12fps.

I want to install it in daughter's pc and my experience with webcam is VERY limited. In the first instance to make sure that there are no issues, I have installed it in my test system.

A question which may be pertinent: My test system has a T'bird 1200 cpu and 256Mb ram. The 'device Manager' is showing 85-90%+ cpu usage when the webcam is on. Would the cpu have a meaningful impact on fps. Although I am testing the webcam on my 'test' pc, would it likely give better fps when I install it on my daughter's pc. She has an XP2600 with 512Mb ram (same mobo as my specs).

I just wanted to make sure that I am not missing anything. Already had to dig up Creative's updated driver for the webcam since the driver on the disk resulted in Video error and Audio sync problems.

Many thanks for your kind help

Well...when so called company builds a so called camera...they build that camera to produce X amount of frames per second...and usually they publish that specification as a sales point...so therefore, I would think somewhere on the box or in the manual...It should say what the expected fps of that product is!!

However...16 to 23 fps is not that smooth, believe it or not!!!! Let alone when it falls to 10 to 12 fps!!!! When I bought my Kodak Digital camera...I was sure to get one that wasn't lower that 30 fps (which is what I ended up with) and it is still kind of glitchy and if you move too quick it will tend to blur on you!!

As far as a more powerful computer having and effect on it....i would imagine that it would play some part in it...however...i'm not 100% knowledgeable as to what extent!!

Cheers rogvalcox, fyg the info on the box/manual said 30fps..... yeah, even 30fps is not going to remove the blurryness. I reckon 40fps would be a fair target.

I guess I will just have to accept it as is. I guess cmos sensor webcams from what you say are probably all like that to a degree. Maybe, I was just expecting a little too much from the fact that this webcam operated at USB 2.0 speeds

    All the best

Yup...the computer can only process what the camera can take in!!!!

    Good Luck
