Creative SB Live! 5.1 Digital Problemo

I am running Win XP Sp3 and I have a Creative SB LIve! 5.1 Digital Sound Card installed. My issue is that the Mixer, and some of the software setup under the volume and other settings are missing. hence, I go to Creative and download the pertinent updates and run the install.

After the install begins, it aborts the install and tells me that I do not have a Creative SB Live! sound card installed and then aborts.

The software in the control panel under the 'properties' tab tells me that I have Creative SB Live! sound card installed. I've gone to the creative web site and the update wizard at that site says I have the correct updates and nothing else needs to be done.

I've manually uninstalling the drivers, updating them and even manually removing the sound card and reloading/installing the software in 'Safe Mode' with no success. I did verify that the actual card is definitely a Creative SB Live! 5.1 Digital sound card model# sb0220.

Is there a step somewhere that I am missing? any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah... The sound card came OEM. No Install CD. Am I screwed or what?
