Creative things to do with old hard drives?

I was going through my box of old parts and I found three old hard drives: 500 MB Seagate ST5660A, 2.1 GB Quantum Pioneer SG, and 5 GB Western Digital Caviar 35100. I hate to throw things away. Is there any creative thing I can do thing these hard drives? I was thinking I could make the 500 MB into a permanent swap file disk.

Don't know about all of them, but you would likely be adversely affecting the transfer rates of your current, faster drives with the 500MB in the IDE mix.

You could always think about raising your monitor one inch higher.

 

Experiment. Use the platters if you can try to, convert them to cds lol I don't know see if you can throw them like a frisbee or something.

What if it was on its own IDE channel and not a slave behind anything else?

 

If you have an IDE channel to spare... probably would be fine. But you may as well just use a CD-R for that kinda storage gain.

I still like the idea of a 3 way speaker system

 

I am sure there are schools or charities who could use extra storage. Hell, even the 500mb would be useful in my ex's Win 95 Pentium 100 as a second drive. The original drive is getting full. Bazza

5GB is still a lot of space. Why not install it as a slave and use it for backup? For school essays and the like.

The other two you can turn into robots and make them fight it out in an arena in your living room.

OMG!!!!!!!!!! I love that robot thing. That reminds me of that dell server commercial where the dude converted their old companies server's and water fountain into robot's to battle it out in the courtyard. Damn that's a classic.
