My dell dim4300 died of old age and my sister in law gave me her old computer which she had built for her in 2004.Its got a creative audiopci(es1370),sbpc 64/128(wdm) which is no longer supported by creative(it too reached its 'end of life').

The sound is great but i cant use the audio recorder on it.Ive run the gauntlet on this including taken it apart,pulled out the soundcard and put it back together again-rebooted it still has great sound but i cant use my microphone.

I try to install a new driver but creative says they cant detect my soundcard!Now on my Dell the card was connected by 3 sets of wires to the pc but not this homemade jalopy-could that be why windows doesnt detect the card?

 

I'm confused.... you said that Creative can't detect the card, and you say the card sounds great, but you also say that Windows can't detect the card. If Windows didn't detect it, you wouldn't have ANY sound. The 1370 chip is also known as the 1371 and 1373, as well as AUDIOPCI3000 and AUDIOPCI5000, AudioPCI128, and AudioPCI64. Gateway Computers sold many of these sound cards in their PC's under Gateway part# 7510802. Try searching for drivers using those parameters. Windows XP should auto-install drivers for that card; go to the device manager and uninstall the card and reboot. Windows should reload the drivers. The microphone should be plugged into the pink or red jack on the sound card....
