This is nothing new but it's the first time it has happened in South Africa.
Criminals, aka lowlifes, have kidnapped a 13-year old boy and have demanded a ransom in bitcoin - $123,000.

Terrible.!! The perps need the harshest of penalties for putting a child and family through such an ordeal.

At the same time it makes me think of ways to trick the perps, same as other tactics. Fake bitcoins, marked bitcoins,
delayed dye pack bitcoins and other methods used with old currencies need to be adapted the the new payment methods to make the transaction appear legit, only to blow to shreds after a time.

The Reason why they used bitcoin is because it's untraceable.

Have you ever heard of the story where a guy used a couple thousand dollars to put a hit out on him self using the dark web.This is really a true story.This guy that did this had a lot of money to burn.So he actually started to chase the hit man for fun.

The only reason why the guy got caught on silk road is be cause he got sloppy.I very rarely hear about bitcoin.

 

Thank goodness he's been found unharmed.
No arrests or news on whether the ransom was actually paid.
