critical error mesage

I keep getting message on screen saying Critical Error Registry Damaged or Corrupted says go to Winregistrycleaner.com I tried going on there and my antivirus stops it saying danger Malware. How do I stop this coming up? I have only recently gone over to ADSL from a dial up connection. is this Winregistry abogus site. thanks Neilo

Yes, Winregistry is what we call "rogue-ware". It is a fake application that tries to appear to be helpful, but in actuality is either a virus, or another type of nasty. These types of malware usually pose as registry cleaners, registry optimizers, hard drive cleaners, and anti virus programs. The most infamous as of late is "Winantivirus 2008/2009" and "Antivirus XP 2008/2009". Both are rogue-ware.
