I recently got a new computer and I went through your info on keeping your computer safe, but I had one major glitch. My Mbam license would not work leaving me without active protection. I notified MBam of the issue and they have been working with me to figure out why my software wouldn't accept the license, but we haven't finished yet. In the mean time, today my internet kept turning off every 2 minutes--and I mean, every 2 minutes. I turned off the Windows ability to shut down my adapter to save power, but it hasn't helped. The only thing that found something was one of the evaluation programs that you have us to not delete anything.

Here are my logs and hopefully you can find something.

Thank you so much for your help.

I am not seeing any malware....but I will make a suggestion. Download MBAM to your desktop but do not try to install it yet.

    Uninstall Avira.

Reboot and try to install MBAM.

Let me know how it works out.

Wow! My computer won't let me uninstall Avira via control panel, it says: "Avira cannot be uninstalled because it is required by the following applications: Antivirus."

I don't even remember installing it, but I must have. Is there another way to do it? I also uninstalled Autoeater thinking it might be shutting down my internet by blocking my thingy (sorry, can't think of what that usb thing is called.) I tried to move it to other USB ports, but no help.

    Thanks TimW!

Did you first try disabling it? How about safe mode? Do things work as normal in safe mode?

I am probably going to suggest you post in the software forum depending on the outcome.

i just looked up my wireless usb and it turns out it needs a driver that I had forgotten about. It seems to be working now. I disabled Avira, but it will not let me get rid of it. I'll try reinstall MBam with it disabled and see what happens.

    Thanks TimW

I think my MBam license keys are the problem. They issued a new key for my subscription that begins Feb 1, 2020. I am guessing the old key was deactivated when they issued the new key. The MBam guys said to do the same things as you did. I have the answers I think. Not a virus, missing a driver and a license key that won't work until Feb 1. Maybe the MBam guys will fix that.

Sorry to waste your time. I now need to go to the program support forum because I did a bonehead thing. I installed the usb in the wrong slot. I moved it now it won't update. I wish I was smarter about this stuff!

    Thank you TimW

    You are welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    3. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have re-enabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    4. Now go to the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 or 10 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    5. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    6. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
